Steven
has designed theatrical lighting throughout Southern California, including Songs
For A New World (Ovation Award) at the Rubicon Theatre in Ventura, JOB:
The Hip-Hopera at the Stella Adler in Hollywood, Side Show (Garland
Award, Robby Award) and The Laramie Project (Ovation Award nomination)
for the Colony Theatre in Burbank, She Loves Me for Reprise! Broadway’s
Best; Cabaret for Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista; Jekyll & Hyde
for Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities, Hot Mikado (Garland Award) and
Ragtime for Musical Theatre West, My Way for McCoy-Rigby
Entertainment in La Mirada, Summertime (Ovation Award nomination) for
Theatre@Boston Court in Pasadena, Letting Go of God with Julia Sweeney at
the Hudson Backstage, Basic Training and Les Liaisons Dangereuses,
and The Wild Party at the Blank Theatre in Hollywood; Side By Side By
Sondheim and Showtune at the Pasadena Playhouse, plus five years as
resident designer for Performance Riverside. Steven
has also designed for Coconut Grove Playhouse, Manitoba Theatre Centre, South
Coast Repertory, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, Laguna Playhouse, Gay Men’s
Chorus of Los Angeles, and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.
Steven has designed extensively for the theme park industry, including
lead design for the Ruzika Company on Universal Studios Islands of Adventure Cat
in the Hat attraction, Warner Bros Movie World Maverick, Magic of the
West stage show in both Australia and Germany and Knott’s Berry Farm Wave
Runner preshow areas. Under the
guidance of Patrick Gallegos, Steven designed lighting systems and concepts for
the LEGOLAND LEGO Racers 4D in Steven
was recently honored with the Angstrom Lifetime Achievement Award in Lighting
Design by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle.
